Money should be spent on creating new public buildings such as museums or town halls rather than renovating the existing ones.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Buildings of the past with historic value to them require exclusive funds to be preserved to sustain them for a longer time. Building new ones instead can also not be totally ignored. I partially agree that funds should only be diverted to the marvels of the past and feel that new structures help maintain the balance between the past and the future. Also, the effective use of funds becomes possible through this approach.
To begin with, historical monuments do require maintenance in order to sustain. The reason being, olden times materials were not only of high quality, but also available in abundance. The statue of Liberty in the USA or the famous Golden Temple in India are of great importance and made of metal mostly. The metals need regular polishing, layering and also safety from wear and tear. This does cost money. New structures on the other hand are cheaper than the past and mainly rely on concrete and glass rather than metals alone. are made, the future generations would be unaware of the present era. Hence, it becomes quite important to distribute the funds to build new ones too.
Furthermore, in order to preserve and maintain a history for the future, some contributions from the present era become important to showcase. Thus, to give something to the future generations, and to portray what significance the present era held, it is important to bring new structures to life too. Burj Khalifa for example, is a fine display of concrete and glass in a tall structure amidst a desert. This keeps the interest of the present generation Intact. On the other hand, to learn about the way of living in the past, its important to preserve the historical buildings also. Even after 2500 years, the pyramids of Egypt still hold mystical structures underneath them. Thus, preserving them is the responsibility of the present generation.
To conclude, it is evident that costs should be divided to create a balance between the past history and the futuristic scope of buildings. Also, in order to give something to the future generation from the present, it is equally important to erect museums or town halls from scratch too.
