IELTS Speaking Part 1 New Year
- How do you celebrate New Year?
We have a family tradition of organising dinner at our grandparent’s home to celebrate new year with our close relatives. All my cousins gather there and we dance and sing while welcoming the new year.
- Do you still remember a New Year that you celebrated?
Yes, I remember that around two years back my parents and their cousins decided to go to Dharamshala which is a hilly region for new year. We all boarded the plane from Chandigarh and stayed in a resort there. It was the best new year celebration as the resort has organised a party for all the guests and I also experienced snowfall for the first time during that celebration.
- Do you have any ceremonies to celebrate the New Year in your country?
Yes, in my country people visit temples and churches as prayers are held there to welcome the new year. Also, people like to celebrate new year at parties where they dance, eat and drink.
- Why do people think New Year is a new beginning?
I think it is a general notion that new year is a new beginning as people set resolutions and make fresh determinations for the coming year. They think that it is the time to make new changes and adopt good habits from the first day of a new year. But I personally think that every day is a new beginning as it gives us the opportunities to start afresh from the last day.
