  1. In what season does it rain the most? OR When (in what month/season) does it rain most in your hometown?

Rain occurs the most in the spring as well as summer season in my hometown. However, due to global warming, sometimes we experience unexpected changes in the rains.

  1. What about the other parts of India? OR In which season does it rain most in other parts of India?

Actually, I don’t have much idea about the geography and weather conditions of the different parts of India but I think it is the spring season when it rains the most all over India.

  1. Would you prefer to have more rain or less rain (in your hometown)?

My hometown has fertile soil and land for irrigation purposes and thus, rainfall plays an important role for my hometown as well as for all states in North India. So, I think more or less rain than required would cause a huge loss to the whole country.

Mostly people enjoy the rainy season and feel refreshed. However, heavy rainfall can result in disasters such as floods, damage to buildings and can harm the crop production.

I prefer sunny days because these are more calming and do not result in any disaster. Also, rainy days make it difficult to travel and sometimes, can cause serious damage to the public property.

I usually like to spend rainy days at my home with the family. I like to listen to the sound of rain and enjoy fritters and hot coffee.

When I am outside and it starts to rain, I try to look for a shade where I could prevent myself from getting wet on the streets and wait till the rain stops. Sometimes, if there is already a weather forecast predicting rain or in the rainy season, I make sure to carry my raincoat and an umbrella whenever I go outside.

  1. Is there any part of India where it doesn’t rain much? (Where?) OR Is there an even distribution of rain throughout India?

No, I don’t think there is an even distribution of rain throughout India as the desert regions such as Rajasthan experience very little rainfall and thus, face shortage of water supply and hot weather.

  1. What effects can a shortage of rain (a drought) have on people’s lives?

A shortage of rainfall can adversely affect people’s lives as there will be very little or no rainfall to support food crops. People can also suffer due to the scarcity of drinking water. A drought can also result in malnutrition and dehydration among the civilians.
