Unemployment arises from a variety of causes. One which has been taking place: time and again is the disorganization of industry resulting from a long war. This is a serious problem having no easy solution even at the best of times. Again, there is the unemployment which follows a marked decrease in the quantity of any raw product, such as cotton: in this case, fewer workers are required in the mills and factories. We may call this cause “bad harvests “. Similar, but more serious, is the effect of changes in industry due to the invention of machinery which does more work and requires fewer hands. Yet another serious cause is a strike or lockout; such a stoppage sometimes is due to a very trivial matter perhaps the fact that men are working half an hour longer than the regulations that their unions permit

    Answer:

Precis: - Unemployment is the result of many causes. First of all is disorganization of industry caused by war has also caused a shortage of raw materials so that the labors have to sit idle. Machines also throw me out of work. Trade unions also increase unemployment by stopping work.

    Title: Causes of unemployment.
