Women, who constitute half of the human population, are encountered with many challenges. Female foeticide is perhaps, one of the worst form of violence against the women, where a woman is denied her most basic and fundamental rights i.e. "The Right to Life'. Though there is no particular definition of foeticide provided by the code of criminal procedure but the following definition will clear your concept. "Female foeticide" is the killing of a healthy female foetus in order to get rid of a female child by means of medical termination of Pregnancy (MTP) or Abortion. Female foeticide is considered a criminal offence in India. Abortion is lawful only when the doctor believes that the continuance of the pregnancy may pose a direct threat to the life or the health of the mother or the unborn child. No doubt, if this practice continues, it will disturb the social balance. For a healthy society, the male and female gender ratio must remain at a balanced level. The alarming rate of female foeticide is a cause of great concem, as the number of girls bomis decreasing drastically in several sections of our society, thus, exposing females to more exploitation and violence. This state of affairs, if not corrected, will have a disastrous impact on the future generation of our society.

    Answer:

    Title:- Female Foeticide

Women of the world are facing many problems and the worst one is female foeticide. Women’s basic right that is ‘Right to Life’, is been demolished. Sex determination and abortion is unlawful until any serious medical condition. Still this practice is followed without any fear of law. If killing of girl child continues it will disturb the balance of nature. If no strict law is made against this, it will be tragic for future generation.

    OR

    To

    The Editor,

    The Tribune,

    Chandigarh.

    Dear Sir,

Kindly permit me to express my views on bad condition of buses in Punjab.

The buses running in the state of Punjab tell a sad tale. It is pity that even long route buses are in a bad condition. The buses owned by the government are found in an ill managed state. New buses put on the road give no complaint. But once a bus becomes a year or so old its maintenance becomes a problem. The window panes are found missing and in many cases these are found jammed. During winter or rainy season it becomes difficult to travel in such buses. Seats in some of the buses are in bad shape.

Most of the buses plying on the long route are seldom on time. Sometimes the engine goes out of order and sometime the tyre gets burst. Thus passengers are stranded on the way. The condition of children and ladies travelling by such buses become pitiable. No wonder, some passengers prefer travelling by buses owned by private company.

Through this column i request the authorities to look into the matter and redress the grievances of the passengers.

    Thanking You,

    Your’s faithfully,

    Ronit
