Cell phones have become an indispensable part of our lives. Although mobile phones have transformed into a multifunctional device due to the advent of smartphones, they are mainly used for texting and calling.
Here I would like to talk about a time when I received some good tidings via text message. About a year and a half ago, I and my husband applied for Australian tourist visa as we wanted to explore the hot spots of that country like Sydney Opera house, several Australian national parks and the Great Barrier Reef. We also wanted to visit a couple of our blood relatives there. Actually one of our relatives had invited us for their housewarming party. We had all the requisites met and also we had a strong travel history so we thought to apply for the visa. However, earlier than that we had only visited countries which do not have a stringent immigration procedure for Indian visitors like Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius but we thought we could make it.
About one month after online submission of our file with the Australian Embassy, we were eagerly waiting for some response to get rid of the suspense. Moreover, the housewarming function was also approaching and our relatives in Australia were getting curious too. One day I got a text message’s beep when I was at work. I heard it but I thought to check the phone later as I was occupied. After around 10 minutes all of a sudden I thought that it may be some text message regarding our file’s status and I quickly took out my phone from my handbag to read the message. It was a message from my husband in which he wrote that we had got our visas.
At first, I was taken aback but after a minute or two I got back to my senses and jumped with joy. It was the happiest news that I have ever got via text message so far. I immediately called him back to know the details and hurried home as it was hard to contain my excitement. I immediately informed my Australian relatives and our parents as well. They all were on the cloud nine too on hearing the ecstatic news. So this was a time when I got an important piece of news via text message.
