- And explain how this place was affected
Pollution is becoming a serious cause of concern globally. There are hardly any places left which are not affected more or less by pollution. Here, I will talk about a place that I visited which is badly affected by different kinds of pollutants. Its name is Dhandari Kalan, which is an industrial area located in Ludhiana.
I went there to meet my paternal relatives on the occasion of some family function a few years ago. They own a truck transport company and they have been living in Dhandari since 25 years, when it used to be a residential area and hardly had any industries in the vicinity. It is now a hub of different kinds of factories and small scale industries. When we entered Dhandari we could see smoke arising from chimneys of factories which appeared like big black clouds of toxic fumes. Also there was a huge traffic jam in the area and many loaded heavy duty vehicles were moving around which were releasing and exhausting harmful gases into the air. Moreover, those carriers and trucks had extremely loud and annoying pressure horns that almost busted my eardrums and gave me a terrible headache. Also, I could smell the smoke even while sitting inside the car. My mother told my father to stop the car outside a fruits shop as we had to buy some fruits for our relatives. When we got out of the car, my eyes literally started watering and I started sneezing badly. Actually I have a severe dust and pollution allergy and within a few minutes my throat also started paining and it got sore.
I took some anti-allergy medicine and yet it took me one hour to feel better. When we arrived at our relatives house, I went to one of their rooms which was unoccupied and took some bed rest there to feel better. I was wondering how they were managing to live in such a polluted locality and we adviced them to move to someplace cleaner and better. This was a time when I visited an area which was badly contaminated.
