I know about many large and success
ful national as well as international businesses. But here I will talk about the one I find the most interesting. It is Microsoft. Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational technology company with headquarters in Redmond, Washington. It develops, manufactures, licenses, supports, and sells computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and related services.
Its best-known software products are the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems, the Microsoft Office suite, the Internet Explorer and Edge web browsers. Its flagship hardware products are the Xbox video game consoles and the Microsoft Surface lineup of touchscreen personal computers.
I came to know about him from my computer teacher in grade 4th, back in 2001, when I started studying computers.
Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen on April 4, 1975. It has been ranked No. 21 in the 2020 Fortune 500 rankings of the largest United States corporations by total revenue. It is considered one of the ‘Big Five’ technology companies alongside Amazon, Apple, Google, and Facebook. Earlier dethroned by Apple in 2010, in 2018 Microsoft reclaimed its position as the most valuable publicly traded company in the world. In April 2019, Microsoft reached the trillion-dollar market cap, becoming the third U.S. public company to be valued at over $1 trillion after Apple and Amazon respectively.
I have interest in this company because it revolutionised the computer world and has given us many incredible technophilic gifts like XBox, MS word, MS powerpoint and MS Excel. The company also produces a wide range of other consumer and enterprise software for desktops, laptops, tabs, gadgets, and servers, including Internet search with search engine called Bing, the digital services market (through MSN), mixed reality (HoloLens), cloud computing called Azure, and software development named Visual Studio.
I feel that through its marketing and products, Microsoft has done more than any other company to help users find ways to integrate computing into their daily lives. I find it interesting because it is ranked one of the best places to work. Programmers are respected, creativity is encouraged and the company pays well to boot.
