Television and Radio

1. What kind of entertainment do you prefer, TV or radio? (Why?)

I prefer watching television because I like to watch daily soaps and movies. Also, on radio, I don’t feel connected or engrossed as there is no possibility of watching a video along with the audio.

2. How are radio programs and television programs different?

Radio programs are different from television programs in the manner that radio only facilitates the audio whereas by watching television programs one can enjoy the video aspect along with the radio.

3. What programs do you like to watch/listen to?

I like to watch programs related to history and comedy. My favorite program these days is Comedy Nights with Kapil Sharma. It is very popular due to the wittiness and humor of the host and the concept of the show is very interesting.

4. When do you watch TV/listen to the radio?

I generally watch television in the evening for one to two hours each day.

5. In India, has television/radio changed much in recent years?

Yes, with the advancement in technology television has changed to a great extent. Earlier there used to be black and white picture displays but now videos are in colored form. Also, the shape of the televisions has been transformed from a box-like look to a thin slim look. Today’s televisions come with the latest features which support the internet and are smart televisions that can be operated even without the use of remote control. So, there is a massive change in the looks as well as features of the television as compared with the old age ones.

6. How do you think TV/radio broadcasts in India could be improved?

I think more shows on educational and real-life learning should be added. Also, there is a scope of improvement in daily soaps as the producers tend to extend the story unnecessarily to run their shows that the real essence of the story is lost in between. They should be more crisp and innovative.

7. Do you prefer TV news or news on the radio? (Why?)

I like to watch TV news because of the accessibility to both audio and video components.
