Describe a place where you read and write, apart from your home
- What is it
- Where is it
- Why do you go there to read and write
There are many places apart from my home where I read and write. One such place is my school, and another is a library. Here, I would like to talk about the library. The name of the library is Guru Arjan Dev Library. It is run by an NGO named Khalsa Aid. This NGO also runs a blood bank and a primary school for poor children. The building is rectangular and has around 12,000 books. It is open from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 6pm. The annual membership is Rs 600. I go there very often, especially when I need peace and quiet to prepare for some tests or exams. This library is at a stone’s throw from my home. During exam days, I go there every day so I can concentrate better there. No one is allowed to talk loudly there so there is always a pin drop silence in the library premises. Also, it has a huge garden all around its building therefore the noise arising from traffic on the main road does not affect its tranquility. I can focus and learn things much better there than at home. The atmosphere is very calm and peaceful. Cell phones are not allowed there. Many senior citizens of my hometown visit it regularly. They sit and read some papers or magazines over there. There are 6 computers with internet connection. I usually surf the web there when I have to prepare my assignments. The tables and chairs provided there are also very nice and comfortable. I love the positive ambience of the library. There is a librarian who is very helpful and soft spoken. Many of my friends also come there to study. So, this is the place apart from home where I opt to study.
