Describe a time when you changed your opinion

You should say

  • When it was
  • What the original opinion was
  • Why you changed it
  • And explain how you felt about it

Well, I am not a judgemental person and I often try not to form opinions about people or situations before I get to the bottom of it. Here I will talk about a time when I formed an opinion but then changed it eventually.

It was about a year ago. A new family came to live in an apartment in our neighbourhood, the ‘Sharmas’ family. There are five members in their family. Moreover, all are working in different sectors. Most of them did not converse with other people in the initial months. My family and other neighbours opined that they were arrogant. Because they were attending their friend’s parties and also threw parties to their relatives and friends, but did not invite anyone from the neighbourhood. They just used to pass by even if someone came across them during mornings or evening. They did so for the first three months because they all were introverted, so they took time to mix up within a new society. However, one day one of the kids’ from our society met with an accident as she was playing in the park beside the road and got hit by a scooter while she went running on the road to fetch her ball. Fortunately, Mr. and Mrs. Sharma was sitting and having evening tea at their terrace and they witnessed the mishappening. They went running to the girl and immediately took her inside their house. As Mrs. Sharma herself is a nurse, she immediately gave first aid to the child and bandaged her wounds on the knee and elbow. Meanwhile other children playing in the park informed the girl’s family as well as their parents of the accident and how Sharmas took the girl inside. All of us gathered outside their house and rang their door bell. Mr. Sharma came at the door and insisted us all to come inside upon which 6 of us went inside to check on the girl. We all heaved a sigh of relief upon seeing that the girl was fine and taken good care of by the duo. She was sipping on juice and smiling. We thanked the family for being so discreet and generous and they humbly said not to mention it and said that it was their duty as a responsible neighbour.

Since then, we all changed our opinion we had earlier made in our minds for the family and now I and everyone in the society get along very well with the family. So this is a time I remember when I changed my opinion.
