Talk about a time when you gave advice to someone.

Talk about a time when you gave advice to someone.
You should say:

  • Who you gave advice to?

  • What the advice was?

  •  Why you gave the advice?

  •  And how you felt about the advice?

Well, giving and receiving advice is part of everyone’s life. Also, having a trustful person around who can give beneficial advice is in itself a blessing. But I generally refrain from giving advice unless it is asked for. I believe that anything that is given for free and unasked for would lose its worth. However, when someone approaches me for advice, I make sure that I give genuine advice after considering every pro and con. Today, I would like to talk about a time when I gave advice to my best friend Simran. She wants to pursue her career as a Chartered Accountant and during her initial examinations, she was perplexed. It is one of the toughest exams and any student could start to feel anxious during exams.

She approached me with her problem as the apprehensions started to take a toll on her health and she was unable to study too. I understood her problem and gave her the assurance that her worry and unstable state of mind can be cured by making changes in her daily routine. She was skipping having my time and outings as she drowned herself in the studies. I advised her to take breaks in between her studies and to enjoy a bit to get her energy back. At first, she felt that this would further harm her studies but decided to follow me. I suggested her to do her favourite activities during the breaks such as going out for coffee or walk to refresh her mind. I also asked her to take some time in the morning for meditation as it would help in escalating her concentration levels. I recommended she prepare a time table for studies and stick to it so that she could have enough time to do the revisions. I gave her this advice because I wanted her to clear her exams without compromising her health and mind peace. She followed my advice and did the same for a week first. When I talked to her, I got to know the contentment in her voice and she told me that this is all because of the breaks that I encouraged her to take.
