Talk about a toy you liked in your childhood

  • What was the toy
  • Who gave it to you
  • How often did you play with it

Well, I was very fond of collecting different types of toys in childhood. I used to tell my father to buy different kinds of toys after every few months. I had a keen interest in having battery operated or remote-controlled toys.  Here I will talk about a toy which was given to me on my eighth birthday. My brother who is 9 years older than me brought it for me from Canada. It was a remote-controlled helicopter. He kept it hidden for some days as he wanted to surprise me and gave it to me on my birthday, early in the morning when I woke up.

I was on cloud nine when I saw it as it was my first toy which could fly! My brother taught me how to play with it and how to move it in different directions by following instructions on the user manual and by using the remote control. It was navy blue in colour. It was manufactured by Toyland company.  It was equipped with an auto hovering system. It had gyro stabilizer and digital proportional technology for a high precision speed control. The helicopter also had a sniper equipped with 3 channel control. It came with a charger and 8 missiles. It was made of plastic and I used to play with it both indoors and outdoors. It could fly upto a height of 50 feet. Its remote just needed 4 AA batteries. I thanked my brother for buying me such a wonderful gift.  All my friends from school and neighbourhood were very curious about my toy. They always insisted me to let them play with it but I was pretty possessive and concerned about it. I only used to allow some of my close friends to play with it as I feared that it would break. I used to play with it everyday in the evening for many hours. Sometimes I used to neglect study because of it and then my mother used to scold me. I used to clean it every few days and take utmost care of it. After about 4 years, it suddenly stopped working one day and I was quite sad but then my brother consoled me by promising to bring more nice toys for me during his next visit. However, I did not discard it and kept it in my cupboard for many years as it was a token of love from my brother.
