You recently got a letter from a friend asking for advice about whether to go to college or to try to get a job. You think he/she should get a job.

Write a letter to this friend. In your letter

  • Say why he/she would not enjoy going to college
  • Explain why getting a job is a good idea for him/her
  • Suggest types of job that would be suitable for him/her

Dear ABC,

I hope this letter finds you in good spirits and I am also doing good here. I just got your letter yesterday and I am glad to hear that you have passed your Diploma in Nursing with flying colours. I am writing in response to your letter in which you asked whether you should continue higher studies in college or look for a job.

Well, I staunchly feel that you must look for a job rather than going for higher studies because your diploma has enough value and it’s credible enough to enable you to find a suitable and well-paid job. Even if you would pursue a degree in Nursing, it would be more or less the same as almost the same things would be taught to you. I believe practical experience will help you enhance your skills while working at a hospital rather than studying repetitive theory which would be rather boring.

I think getting employed is crucial for you at this stage as once you get enough work experience, you can learn enough skills and tact to work in any hospital premises and can apply for a work permit abroad thereafter. Moreover, by doing a job you’d be able to earn for yourself and will learn to become independent.

As per your qualifications, you can join as a staff nurse in any reputed hospital in your city. I think you can do outstanding work in the pediatric ward as that is your strength. You can look for vacancies in the local newspaper on Sundays and also can check for any job offers online in the field of healthcare.

I hope you’ll find this information useful. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours friendly,

XYZ
