- What’s (the name of) your hometown?
My hometown’s name is Ludhiana. It’s located in Punjab. It’s a beautiful place with many facilities available for its residents.
- Is it a big city or a small place?
It’s the biggest city in Punjab. With the passage of time Ludhiana has expanded by length and breadth. It accommodates its natives as well as migrants from all parts of the country who come here in search of employment.
- Please describe your hometown a little.
Well, Ludhiana is a hub of small-scale industry and it’s also popularly known as the Manchester of Punjab. It is known worldwide for its successful local businesses and brands like Cremica, Hero Cycles, Oswal, Duke and Vardhaman. It has a good infrastructure and it is a developing city. It has good medical, educational and entertainment facilities for its residents.
- How long have you been living there?
I have been living here by birth. It’s been over 25 years.
- Do you like your hometown?
Yes, I love my hometown and I am very fond of it. I have lived in many other cities during my student life such as Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Dehradun and Chandigarh but Ludhiana has its own charm and warmth.
- Do you like living there?
Yes, as I mentioned earlier, I love living in my hometown. Living here gives me a sense of belongingness and warmth.
- Would you say it’s an interesting place?
Yes, it’s quite an interesting place as it offers many amenities and provisions for shopping, entertainment, education, employment as well as health care. People from nearby small towns come to my city to avail the aforementioned facilities.
- What do you like (most) about your hometown?
I like the local food and eateries here the most. It has many locally pioneered food joints like Baba chicken, Basant and Chawla which have now become renowned international brands and have their restaurants all around the globe.
- What’s your favorite part of your hometown?
My favourite part of my hometown is Kips market. It’s the main market of my city located in Sarabha Nagar. It’s a home to many popular national as well as international restaurants, salons and other stores.
- Is there anything you dislike about it?
Well, as my city is growing in size and developing day by day, pollution and crime are also increasing unfortunately. That is the only thing that has to be dealt with.
- Do you think you will continue living there for a long time?
Well, the future is uncertain but I would definitely love to continue living in Ludhiana as I really like being here.
- Are there any tourist attractions in your hometown?
Yes, there are many tourist attractions like Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Memorial Museum, Tiger Safari, Hardy’s World, RDB Fort, Punjab Agricultural University, Phillaur Fort, famous historical Gurudwaras like Alamgir Sahib and Dukh Niwaran Sahib as well as many malls and marketplaces like Ghumar Mandi, Pavilion mall, Mbd Neopolis, Wave and Silver Arc mall.
- Did your friends also grow up in the same place as you?
Yes, I have many friends from school and college who were born and brought up here. Many of them still live here and some have shifted to different cities or have migrated abroad.
- Would you like to live there in the future?
Yes, as I have mentioned earlier, I would love to live in my city in the future as it’s the place where I was born, brought up and spent the most years of my life.
