Describe a good decision you made recently
You should say
- What it was
- When you made it
- What the result was
- And explain how you felt about it
Life is not a cakewalk and we often come across situations in which we have to make certain decisions. We often make decisions to bring about good outcomes in life or whenever we are stuck in some confusing situations. Likewise, I also met with a situation in life for which I had to come to a discrete conclusion.
In the month of May, I started experiencing a sharp pain in my lower back as well as my left knee. When the pain did not subside despite taking ample rest and medicine, I finally went to an orthopaedist. After close examination he told me that I was 15 kgs overweight due to which joint problems were beginning to appear in my body. I was shocked and depressed. He comforted me and said that it’s not too late yet and I could resolve the problem myself by shedding the extra weight.
I came home and ardently decided that I will lose the excess fat in my body in the next 2-3 months. I prepared a 900 calorie per day diet chart for myself which had more fruits and vegetables and minimal carbohydrate and fat intake. I began following it diligently without any dishonesty. I began going for a walk for 1 hour every evening. I also did some exercise for improving my posture and getting rid of back pain such as the famous ‘cat and camel’ exercise which alleviated the back pain. I also started going to the gym five days a week to do some aerobic exercises as well as cardio training. The coach there took note of my back pain and accordingly gave me training to strengthen my back muscles as well as to get rid of the extra weight. I kept doing all these things for 2 months and at the end measured my weight. I was over the moon when I noticed a massive drop of 13 kgs. It was indeed a hard decision for me to take due to my spinal problem but with dedication and strong will power I got victory at last. My friends and parents were also very happy for me. My mother appreciated my efforts and told me to keep it up as I had 2 more kgs to shed. In the next two weeks I accomplished the challenge completely and finally visited the doctor. He just could not recognise me at first sight as I looked healthier and smarter. He too praised me a lot for my good work. After checkup he said that I was completely fine and I happily left for home. So this was a useful decision I took that turned out to be quite beneficial.
