Making mistakes is a part of life, all people make more or less mistakes and learn valuable lessons from them. Here I am going to talk about a time when I made a mistake recently.

Last week, some relatives came over to our home on Sunday at around 11am. They actually came to meet and check on my mother and father as both of them were feeling under the weather. They were suffering from fever and malaise for many days. My uncle and aunt came to meet us without informing anyone in advance and showed up all of a sudden. I had just finished preparing and serving breakfast to my parents and when I finished the kitchen work and went to my parents’ room, I found my uncle and aunt sitting beside them. As my mother was also not well, I had to serve them with some welcome drinks and snacks. Although they refused to eat or drink anything and said that they had just come for a while, my father insisted me to prepare tea for everyone.

I was having some pending office work that day which I had to complete and submit by 2pm so I got a little irritated but kept calm. I immediately went to the kitchen and started preparing tea in haste. Actually, before my mother got sick, she had prepared Kaju Katli at home which is an Indian dessert. She used powdered sugar in it as a sweetener which was placed right next to the salt and she told me to use up the leftover powdered sugar for sweetening the tea or coffee every time so that it may get finished. Although I was aware of this but in a hurry I mistakenly added salt to the tea instead of powdered sugar as while I was preparing tea, I got a call from my colleague asking about the status of pending work. I arranged some cookies and savouries in serving dishes along with tea and went to the room. I put the tea, cookies and savouries on the table while everyone was busy talking. I immediately left the room and went upstairs to finish my office work. After 5-7 minutes I got a call from my father and he told me to come downstairs for some time.

I rushed to their room and all of them were laughing and drinking cold drinks. My mother then told me that I had added salt to the tea by mistake. I felt very embarrassed and apologised to everyone. I explained the whole situation to them and they told me to go and finish my work peacefully. My aunt then prepared tea for everyone and also served me some in my room.

So this was a time when I made a silly mistake.
