IELTS Speaking Part 2: IELTS Cue Card
Describe a natural talent you want to improve like sports music
– What it is?
– When you discovered it
– How you want to improve it
– And how do you feel about it?
Well, every person is blessed with a unique talent but it’s important to keep it alive.
It should be nurtured and constantly improved as much as possible.
Some people have a knack for sports, some for music and some for academics or other co-curricular activities.
One such talent that I am blessed with is the sport of swimming.
However, I would like to improve it on a great scale.
I have always been up for trying my hands on different things and loved swimming the most.
Also, since I was always good at sports, it was easy for me to learn swimming.
It so happened that during a summer vacation in my childhood, my mother had enrolled me at a club where they would teach us all the extra-curricular activities.
I got myself enrolled in dance. However, when I went across the hall and saw people swimming, I thought of giving it a try.
I instantly got attracted to swimming as I have always enjoyed playing in water.
My mother got me enrolled for swimming as well and to everybody’s surprise I performed exceptionally well, despite being the youngest student of that class.
However, as time passed, I drifted away from it due to personal and academic commitments.
But I have started pursuing it again and plan on joining swimming classes.
I need to hone my skills and for that I need to get myself trained professionally by a swimming coach or a professional swimmer.
As in sports like these, formal training and proper guidance hold a lot of influence on your performance.
I have also enquired about a professional training institute in the vicinity of my house.
I am pretty serious about it as it gives me immense happiness and relaxes my mind and body.
Moreover, I could even bring medals and make my country proud if I perform diligently.
Additionally, my mother feels extremely proud of me and wants me to make a big name in it.
IELTS Speaking Part 3 :
Follow-up questions of Describe a natural talent you want to improve like sports music
1. Do you think artists with talents should focus on their talents?
Yes, I definitely do. But only if they are serious and passionate about it. Pursuing anything just for namesake can be fruitless and a waste of time and resources. As lack of passion will not let us become successful in our endeavours. For example, it’s not a compulsion that a cricketer’s child will become a cricketer. Although he might be attracted towards it because he sees his father or mother playing it, he won’t be successful if he lacks determination and persistence.
2. Is it possible for us to know that children who are 3 or 4 years old will become musicians or painters when they grow up?
I don’t think so. Children that young are still in the discovery phase. They are still exploring their surroundings and express interest in anything that seems new to them. So, I think parents should not confuse their curiosity with passion and talent. This could lead to rise in impractical expectations by parents and an added pressure on the child.
3. Do you think parents feel guilty for putting too much pressure on their children?
Well, I don’t think there is much to feel guilty about because parents mostly don’t pressurise their children for anything until they see a potential in it. Also, they think that this pressure can act as a motivating factor for their children and can help them achieve new things and scale new heights.
4. Why do people like to watch talent shows?
Honestly, I don’t watch talent shows as I am not a fan. Nonetheless, people enjoy watching them as nowadays they are very dramatised. It’s a known fact that anything that is high on drama sells itself very quickly even if it’s not genuine. Also, these days the talent shows are very high on the entertainment quotient.
5. Do you think it is more interesting to watch famous people’s or ordinary people’s shows?
I would like to club both of them and watch. Watching famous people’s shows tells us a lot about the struggle behind their success. This motivates a lot of people to dream bigger and start working towards it. On the other hand, watching common people is more relatable as they live the same life that we do. There is a different level of emotional and social connection that we share with them. Hence, they can be more inspirational for some people.
