Describe a puzzle (jigsaw, crossword, etc) you have played
– What it is like
– How easy or difficult it is

Well, puzzles are an integral part of almost everybody’s childhood.
Same was the case with me.
Being a huge gaming fan, I have always been into puzzles, board games and sports.
I like puzzles the most as they lead to substantial growth in our intelligence and mental powers.
Anyway, one puzzle which I have played a lot is the jigsaw puzzle. It’s an extremely popular game among kids and adolescents alike.
So this game consists of some puzzle pieces in different shapes and sizes.
You have to join them with each other in such a way that they make a genuine image of something.
The images are often related to a theme. For instance, flora and fauna, nature, buildings, fruits, etc.
For an amateur, it can be a very difficult and hard to crack game, consuming a lot of time and mental energy.
However, once you get well versed with them, they are the most enjoyable yet challenging games that you can play.
Some puzzles are extra tough to solve as they constitute complex-shaped pieces and it becomes difficult to identify a piece matching with them.
However, it becomes easy to solve when you start with the corner and border pieces first.
This trick always helps me to crack the puzzles very rapidly.
Initially, when I started trying my hands at these puzzles, it used to literally take me hours to solve them.
However, with practice and tricks, I can now solve most of them within minutes. Some as quick as 10-15 minutes.
Moreover, as these are played individually, they also lead to the development of independence in young minds making them somewhat less dependable on others in adverse situations.
They are proven to enhance creativity and intelligence in children.
They also develop our problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.

1. Why do parents let their children play puzzles?
I think parents let their children play puzzle games as they stimulate their memory and concentration powers leading them to perform better academically. Also, they are great and fun learning sources. For instance, solving puzzles related to animals can help them learn about different animals in a stress-free manner. This increases their retention power.
2. What kind of puzzles improve people’s intelligence?
I think jigsaw, crosswords and Sudoku are one of the most popular ones known to have a positive impact on people’s intelligence and mental growth. They are also known to fight cognitive diseases and mental issues in older people. Some puzzle games like Lego help to teach about different and useful objects to children in a 3D format which is even better for them.
3. Why are detective stories attractive to people?
I think because of the suspense that they offer. Further, they have a very mysterious and intelligent feel to it which generates curiosity among the people as the story proceeds. It compels people to start thinking and predicting the end creating interest on another level.
4. Which do you think is better? A detective movie or its original novel?
I think the former because watching everything in motion and in front of our eyes has a different effect. It boosts the entertainment quotient. Also, the music creates more thrill and makes it interesting to watch.
