IELTS Speaking Part 2: IELTS Cue Card

Describe a time when you’re waiting for something special that would happen

You should say

– What you waited for

– Where you waited

– Why it was special

– And explain how you felt when you were waiting

–  Well, sometimes things don’t happen as we expect them to happen.

As a result, we often get demotivated or depressed.

– Here I would like to talk about a time when I was eagerly waiting for my cousin’s wedding.

– What happened exactly, last year my elder cousin’ wedding was going to happen on the 22nd of March. Everyone in my family was very excited about this wonderful occasion.

– However, we all got shocked when we heard the news about the lockdown because of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

– It was only a week left to the wedding when everything came to a halt.

– My family had already made most of the arrangements.

-As per the government guidelines more than 5-10 members were not allowed to take part in any function.

– Hence, it was not possible for our family to invite all of our relatives.

– So after talking to my cousin’s in-laws, my family decided to postpone the function till everything get settled.

– I had already bought the dresses and accessories I was supposed to wear on this event.

– During the first week of lockdown, I was optimistic that it would only take a couple of weeks to get everything back to normal.

– On the contrary, the situation in my country was getting worst day by day.

– This was really a tough time for our family as this was a big occasion in our family after such a long time and everyone was super excited for this moment.

But the lockdown ruined all our plans we had been making for this occasion.

-I was feeling low as I really wanted to attend this family function before moving to Canada for my higher studies.

– After waiting for almost one year, the government gave some relaxation and allowed gatherings.

– On the 12th of February, that day came for which my whole family was waiting for almost a year.

– I must say, during this period, life truly tested my patience.

– But I think sometimes waiting makes things more pleasant and special for us.

– Finally on this big day I completely enjoyed every bit of this moment.
