I am not very good at finding the accurate paths to new places or using navigation apps like Google Maps. I got lost many times in life because of it and here I will talk about a time when I got lost in Uttrakhand while on my way to Jim Corbett.
It happened 7 years ago in the winters of 2013 when I was travelling to Jim Corbett with my friends in a 4X4 which is a famous National Park located in the valley of Uttarakhand. We were going to that place for the first time in life. We were using the road map to find the directions but none of us was skilled enough to use a road map. We somehow managed to reach Ramnagar after a 10-hour drive and fortunately we were on the right path. My friend who was driving stopped by at a roadside diner to ask for further directions and take some refreshment. There was a crossroad ahead and the owner of the diner told us to take left but he gave us directions in Hindi. All of us four are not well-versed with Hindi and thus she misunderstood him. We took a right and kept driving for about 35 kms on the wrong route. We got tired and fed up as we did not see any sign boards showing that we had arrived at Jim Corbett. It was 9pm and we were literally frustrated as we wanted to reach the hotel and take a rest. It was a deserted road and after looking for very long we finally saw a man walking on the side of the road who told us that we had taken the wrong turn and were driving in the wrong direction. We were so angry at the man who owned the diner but finally realised that it was our mistake. We finally started driving towards our destination and reached our hotel at 10 pm. We heaved a sigh of relief and laughed hard at our ignorance.
