In many countries, the rich are becoming richer and the poor are becoming poorer. Why is this a problem? What solutions can be done to solve this problem?

In several parts of the world, the gap between the wealth of the rich and the poor is on the rise. This essay believes this is a major issue as it will cause an upsurge in criminal activities and suggest raising the standard of living of the underprivileged as a viable solution.

An increasing difference in earnings of rich and underprivileged will lead the poor committing the crime, such as snatching, kidnapping and murder. This is because, everyone needs some income to make ends meet, therefore, in case a vast majority of citizens could not be able to afford necessities like food, there is a likelihood that they indulge themselves in unlawful activities to earn some money. The New York Times reported that nations with a higher gap in incomes have a high crime rate, and most of the culprits belong to poor society.

To tackle this predicament, the government ought to allocate some funds only to people living under the poverty line to lift their living standard. This is to say that the state should fund individuals having skills but the scarcity of capital to run there own businesses. For instance, in my country, India, where thousands of people are millionaires and many living under the poverty line, there are some new schemes have been introduced to benefit poor people by ensuring a stable income.

In inclusion, many people owning more and more wealth, whereas the livelihood of the poor is declining day by day the world over. This is a concerning situation because it can lead to an increasing number of crimes and the best way to curb this problem is to raise the standards of the underprivileged society.
