International tourism has become a huge industry in the world. Some people think that the problems caused by international tourism outweigh the benefits. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In a better-connected world, enthusiasm for international tourism has witnessed a surge among people for the past few years. Many people say that the boom in the tourism industry has more disadvantages than its advantages. I agree with this statement that tourism linked to across borders has profound demerits despite its few immediate benefits.
It is undeniable that the proliferation of tourists is good for a few reasons, especially for the destination country. Primarily, it significantly contributes to the economic growth of the country. Since it creates job opportunities for the natives. The airlines’ business is also entirely supported by international tourism. Apart from this, it builds good relations between the nationals of two different nations when they meet each other and learn about the cultural trends and language of other countries.
However, nowadays, the disadvantages of cross-country tourism are global and significant. First comes the spread of contagious diseases such as Covid-19 and Spanish fever. As none is oblivious of the spread of coronavirus from China to the whole world. Many times, terror attacks in the host country are linked to international visitors. Besides this, the emergence of global tourism triggers issues like cultural and religious resentment in society. Moreover, surge in the number of tourists increases the burden on the natural resources of the place, consequently it leads to the depletion of resources and ecological imbalance. Most importantly, the air travel associated with the same has a huge impact on the environment.
In my opinion, the disadvantages of tours beyond the boundaries outweigh their advantages due to irreparable losses associated with the same, particularly in terms of environmental degradation, communicable diseases, and societal differences.
