I have been not too many religious places in my life and I’m myself not a very religious person, however, there is one place when I visited there I have memories which are intact till now. I was 18 years old when I got a chance to visit the most famous heritage site for the Sikh people, which is the Golden Temple also known as Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, city of Punjab in India. What happens, there is a very famous ritual of carrying the holy book of the Sikhs, which is known as Shri Guru Granth Sahib, in throne kind of setting, which is known as Palki Sahib, wherein early in the morning at 4:30 AM the Palki Sahib, which is that holy throne, is being carried into the Temple and people worship there and bow down there heads. In order to witness that beautiful joys and stupendous view, a person usually has to get up at 2:30 am in the morning. So when we stayed there at the premises of the Temple, I along with my family we woke up at 2:30 AM in the morning. We took the dip in the holy water and cleansed ourselves and after having the morning tea at around 4-4:15 AM in the morning, I’m kind of person who is scared of long gatherings and huge number of people, so I witnessed this from distance, however, it was very pretty perfect picture wherein when The Palki Sahib was being brought about into the Temple, hundreds and hundreds of visitors moved along and since this whole procedure is what I hear on the radio every day, I have been doing this since I was a kid. Witnessing this in reality was a breathtaking experience for me. However, I did get a chance to pay my obeisance to the Holy book and this feeling of waking up so so early in the morning and taking the holy dip and witnessing the sunrise after that, it is something which has etched in my mind for eternity thank you.
