Follow up questions of cue card:  Describe a water sport you would like to try in the future

  1. Which is the most popular water sport in your country?

I think swimming is the most famous water sport in India. People practice this sport in almost all parts of my country. It is played formally and people also do it because it helps to keep the body fit .

  1. Why do people like to do things near water?

People like to do things near water because usually scenery near water bodies is quite serene and pleasant to see. People feel refreshed while doing things near water bodies such as at the beach or bank of river or lake such as playing some sport like beach volleyball, sunbathing or merely sitting and viewing the sunset.

  1. Do you think schools should teach students to swim and why?

Yes, I think that swimming should be introduced in the sports curriculum because swimming has inevitable benefits. It helps to keep the mind fresh and body fit . Moreover, it is also a life saving activity.

 

  1. Are there many schools teaching swimming?

There aren’t many such schools but some of them teach swimming now. To do so, schools have to invest a lot of funds and space to build a pool and hire a good instructor. It’s not possible for all the schools to arrange all of that.

 

  1. Why should water transport be developed?

Water transport plays a vital role in world worldwide trade as there are many goods that are imported and exported via water transport. Also , cruise ships, yacht and motor boats have become an important part of domestic and international tourism. It not only gives tourists the opportunity to travel to new places via waterways but also to visualise marine life.

 

  1. What is the difference between indoor and outdoor sports?

The main difference between indoor and outdoor sports is the physical activity. Outdoor sports require physical workout whereas indoor games mostly require cognitive involvement. Also, most of the outdoor games are played in a team whereas maximum indoor games are played individually . Thus outdoor sports help us to socialise more than the indoor games do.
