Write a letter to a friend that you can’t collect him/her from the airport, as you have promised,
because of some reason. In your letter
- explain why you can’t come,
- guide them regarding other options to get to your home,
- describe the plans/visits you made to show him around when your friend arrives.
Dear Philip,
I am doing well and hope you are also in the best of your spirit. I can’t contain my excitement as the day of your arrival in India is approaching and I am finding it extremely difficult to wait any longer. However, I am writing with great regret to inform you that I will not be able to visit and pick you from the airport due to a turn of events.
A sudden meeting has come up at my office with the Board of Directors on the day of your arrival. Last week I was assigned a project and I have to give a presentation regarding my work on the project so far. It’s impossible for me to miss the meeting so I will not be able to receive you.
However, you have two alternatives to get to my home conveniently. Firstly, you can take a cab from the airport’s parking lot. You can also board Metro from the Metro station which is at a stone’s throw from the airport. You must get off the train at Dwarka station and I will send my servant to receive you from there. Our apartment is hardly 150 metres from that spot.
As you are going to stay with us for 10 days before leaving for your aunt’s in Jaipur, I have planned outings for all days except for the first as you should get some rest first. We will visit Connaught place, Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and all popular markets, malls as well as some discs in Delhi and Gurgaon.
I promise I will help make your trip to India a memorable one. Waiting to see you soon.
Yours affectionately,
XYZ
