Students today can easily access information online, so libraries are no longer necessary.
Do you agree or disagree?
Accessibility to all the information through the internet has revolutionized the world in a huge manner. Especially, the availability of online information about everything and anything possible has tremendously helped students in their academics. This has declined the need for libraries, but I believe that libraries still have importance in their own way.
Technology has made the process of information exchange easier in every sphere known to humans. Mainly, the convenience of any time and anywhere knowledge in the fractions of seconds has weighed down the value of libraries. However, it is observed that whenever anything is searched on google, it shows endless results which makes it difficult to choose reliable information. Therefore, the information available online is not always as much relevant as that of the library sources. Access to the right information most of the time seems to be paid on the internet. Additionally, libraries also have an edge over online resources when someone requires an answer in a different language other than in English. So, this is the biggest lacunae with web-based information.
The library is not only a place which provides informational sources to the pupils but also provides an appropriate studious atmosphere to them. And it is usually seen that students prefer to sit in the library even when they have their own material to study either on laptops or handwritten notes. So, they find a library, a better place to sit and study. Furthermore, excessive on-screen reading can cause visionary problems.
To sum up, it is right that in this technological era, students are very dependent on online information but that does not mean computers can entirely replace libraries.
