The government should spend money on railways rather than roads.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Due to the population explosion in the world, governments are very concerned about the extension of means of traveling for their citizens. Therefore, nowadays, in many developed countries, authorities are emphasizing on railways rather than roads. This essay discusses that it is better if the government invests more in railways than roads.
In developed nations, authorities are already more inclined towards the extension of railways and making train travel more comfortable for passengers. Primarily, because trains can significantly curb the problems of pollution and traffic congestion on roads. Moreover, the government can reduce the number of mishappenings that occur due to road accidents by providing more conveyance through trains. Besides this, the capacity of trains is much more than that of vehicles which run on the road in terms of carrying goods or passengers, so it is necessary to expand and ameliorate the railway services.
Furthermore, trains are also faster means of transportation than road transportation because of no traffic hindrances on the way. So, people prefer to use trains over buses for long journeys, as well as, shorter journeys. For instance, London city has commenced the service of ‘London tube’ a shuttle train, for intracity commuters which runs underground. Similarly, Delhi has a good network of metro trains in the city and people enjoy this service like anything.
To core out, I believe to cap the major problems of vehicular congestion and pollution, the government should spend more on railways rather than roads.
