operators. Types of delays, Entity and Architecture declaration. Introduction to behavioural, dataflow
and structural models
2. VHDL Statements (12 hrs)
Assignment statements, sequential Statements and process, Conditional statements, Case statements,
concept and use of Concurrent statements.
3. Combinational Circuit Design (14 hrs)
VHDL models and simulation of combinational circuits such as Multiplexers, Encoders, Decoders,
Code converters, Comparators, Implementation of Boolean functions etc.
4. Sequential Circuit Design (14 hrs)
VHDL Models and simulation of sequential circuits, Shift registers, Counters etc.
5. Introduction to CPLDs and FPGAs (12 hrs)
Programmable logic devices: ROM, PLAs, GAL, PEEL, CPLDs and FPGA. FPAA (Field Programmes
Analog Array)
