It is more important for schoolchildren to learn about local history than world history.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Teaching history for schoolchildren has been a heated topic constantly. There is a common belief that local history is more important to children than world history. However, I disagree with this belief.

I believe the notion that local history is more valuable than world history should be rejected. Some people may claim that the insights into the local historical values are completely enough for one to live. Their argument could be true a few decades ago when most interpersonal communications were

These days, many jobs require people travel and this is disrupting many families. What effects do travelling parents have on their children?

With globalisation and a common business culture encroaching among/on every corner of the world, work-related travel is becoming increasingly prevalent. Although this may be positive for international economies, the effect this trend has on parent-child relationships is questionable. I argue that parents who/whom spend excessive amounts of time away from home negatively influence the development of their children. This will be shown by looking amid/at the need children have for both a stable household structure and regular interaction with a positive adult role model.

For one, disruption upon/of a nuclear family’s household structure can have devastating effects on a child’s educational pursuits. For example, a recent American study revealed that children living with single parents were 30% less likely to enrol in/into university than children living within traditional two-parent homes.

When people live in a foreign country, they should follow local traditions and customs. Do you agree or not?

When people live in a foreign country, they should follow local traditions and customs.
Do you agree or not?

As the immigrants in many countries are rising in number, an opinion emerges that it is necessary for these outsiders to embrace the culture of the natives. In my personal view, such assimilation is completely justifiable for certain reasons.

In the first place, non-native residents should consider adopting the cultural changes for the sake of their easy immigration. It can be universally acknowledged that the people of a nation take pride in their own cultural features such as beliefs, lifestyle and cuisine which greatly influence their life.

Some people think that the teenage years are the happiest times of most people’s lives. Others think that adult life brings more happiness, in spite of greater responsibilities.

Some people think that the teenage years are the happiest times of most people’s lives. Others think that adult life brings more happiness, in spite of greater responsibilities.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

It has been always discussed that which stage of human life is more rewarding. Some people opine that children live the most cheerful life, whereas its counterparts argue that adulthood years are more joyful. I will discuss both sides in forthcoming paragraphs before presenting my personal viewpoint.

On the one hand, advocates of prior opinion contend that teenagers live a stress-free life, which is a key attribute behind the Happy life. This is primarily due to the amount of time they allocate to their favourite sport which makes them feel delighted, and this amount of time spent in sports centre

Since the 18th century technological advances have replaced people in the workplace. With today’s technology this process is happening at a greater rate. Technology is increasingly responsible for unemployment.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

In this contemporary era, emergence of technological pieces has successfully overtaken the work being done by manual workers in many firms. Many opine that this change in trend is highly responsible for rising unemployment. I partly agree with this opinion because although deployment of machines is replacing lower pay scale workers like labouring jobs in many workshops but it is not responsible for the unemployment of skilled workers. I will discuss how instalment of machines and other major factors are responsible for unemployment in below paragraphs.

Looking at the unemployment due to machines, many firms are reliant on advanced technology like automated machines for producing goods in lesser time without compromising quality.
Recent analysis by Indian employment organisation, to find the reason behind workers being

Many people choose to work or live abroad because of the higher standards of living they can find outside their home country. Do you think this brings more advantages or disadvantages to the people who follow this path?

Many people choose to work or live abroad because of the higher standards of living they can find outside their home country. Do you think this brings more advantages or disadvantages to the people who follow this path?

Often in today’s world, people are attracted to countries that can offer them increased opportunities and higher standards of living. Although this may drain talent within the country being emigrated from, I feel this phenomenon brings with it more advantages than disadvantages to the individuals who choose this lifestyle. This will be proven by looking at the issues of health care and education.

To start, people coming from countries with underdeveloped health care systems may be able to increase their longevity by moving abroad. For example, average life expectancy in Mainland China is roughly a decade lower than that found in neighbouring Japan.

There is a general increase in anti-social behaviours and lack of respect for others. What
are the causes and solutions?

The widespread problem of anti-social behaviours and disrespectful attitudes towards others has long been a major topic of concern in society. Some of the major culprits of this problem will be discussed before the most important solutions are drawn.

Reasons for this alarming situation vary. In some cases, people may hold an anti-social attitude or disrespect others because they live in an environment where violence and discrimination are the norms. For example, children of sexist parents in rural families in Vietnam, irrespective of their gender, show a worrying tendency of disrespecting women.

by Ielts Team October 15, 2018

The government and individuals are spending too much money on national celebrations like new year or festivals. Do you agree or disagree? People have different views on whether public expenditure on national occasions such as new year or festivals is too much nowadays. While I agree that governments and individuals are spending a significant amount of money on those celebrations, I would argue that this action is necessary and therefore can be considered acceptable. It is true that a large amount…

Too much emphasis is placed on going university for academic study. People should be encouraged to do vocational training, because there is a lack of qualified tradespeople such as electricians or plumbers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Too much emphasis is placed on going university for academic study. People should be
encouraged to do vocational training because there is a lack of qualified tradespeople
such as electricians or plumbers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It goes without saying that society always needs a skilled workforce to function. Employees of different professions contribute differently to the thriving of the community, and therefore I disagree with the statement that vocational courses should be given any more weight than before.

The fact that many people deem it more important to take tertiary education than a vocational training program has resulted in a shortage of qualified workers. It is universally accepted that knowledge and qualifications gained from the university can help one to have a head start over other candidates when it comes to job hunting.

Do you feel artists like writers, musicians and painters still have value in modern society? Discuss

by Ielts Team October 15, 2018

The role artists play in modern society is an often debated topic. On the one hand, many people see art and culture as critical components to a society’s image and sense of identity. Others, however, feel that the significance of a society’s arts is overrated in the modern world. This essay will analyze both sides of this argument.

From one perspective, many people believe strongly in the value that artists bring to a society. For example, Bob Marley was a musician whose work helped to shape the modern cultural image of Jamaica and bring attention to global problems.
