Do you agree with the following statement: home schooling protects students from a number of challenges faced by non-home- schooled children?

Education plays an inevitable role in human life and without it one’s life would be like a ship without a sailor. It is believed by many that being taught at home protects the learners from numerous difficulties that are faced by the school goers. This essay concurs with the above given idea and will shed light on supporting viewpoints in forthcoming stanzas.

First and foremost, there are several reasons due to which children sometimes have to be homeschooled such as some physical disabilities, lack of good schools in the vicinity, frequent job transfers of parents and many more. It indeed privileges the pupils in myriad ways. First of all, children studying at home do not have to bother about wearing uniforms or following a schedule. They save the time that is wasted in commuting to and from school. Moreover, as they are not bound to follow a routine, they can plan vacation anytime with their parents and can spend more time with their family. They can focus more on the subjects of interest which they intend to choose for higher studies. Moreover, teaching at home can have flexible timings that can be planned according to convenience.

To continue, homeschooled learners are less susceptible to face any bullies or harassment. They are not ridiculed by peers or some notorious children at school. They do not feel the need to own things due to peer pressure. Moreover, parents of the students are content regarding their child’s security that he/she won’t get kidnapped, robbed or molested. There are fewer chances of children studying at home to fall in a bad company and ruin their future. They do not demand extra privacy or go rogue and consequently have stronger family ties. The children get better parental supervision as well as get individual attention from the tutor, on the contrary students with mixed abilities study in the same class in schools due to which sometimes weaker students get neglected and their concepts remain unclear which is not the case in homeschooling.

To sum up, although attending school improves social skills and inculcates several qualities among pupils such as discipline, being taught at home has its own perks which cannot be overlooked. Parents can effectively pass their values and beliefs to their children by teaching them at home.
